Fruitvale Station |Netflix Saturday indie

Based on a true story, Fruitvale station was a very intriguing story as well as sad one based on the final days of ‘Oscar Grant’ before being fatally shot by a transit officer on New Years. I remember seeing this movie later than a lot of people but I always had it on my radar but when actually seeing it, mannn I never felt so connected and saddened with a character on screen. The independent film does a great job in showing you all the sides of the characters and story, and nothing is really black and white about the main character ‘Oscar’ and his life situation. if you’re a fan of good movies based on true events than I would definitely recommend this one to you. Out on Netflix now! (just check the “independent film” tab)

Though he once spent time in San Quentin, 22-year-old black man Oscar Grant (Michael B. Jordan) is now trying hard to live a clean life and support his girlfriend (Melonie Diaz) and young daughter (Ariana Neal). Flashbacks reveal the last day in Oscar’s life, in which he accompanied his family and friends to San Francisco to watch fireworks on New Year’s Eve, and, on the way back home, became swept up in an altercation with police that ended in tragedy. Based on a true story.
